Discover Mount Kenya Adventure

Experience a 7 Days Mt. Kenya Climbing Adventure, trekking the highest mountain in Kenya and the second tallest in Africa at 17,057 feet (5,199 meters). Located in central Kenya, the mountain spans Meru, Embu, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Tharaka Nithi counties, just 150 km from Nairobi and 90 km from the Equator. This iconic peak is a volcanic creation over 3 million years old, offering a unique mix of alpine landscapes, glaciers, and rich vegetation from base to summit.

Scenic Routes and Trekking Paths

The Timau Route, on the north side of Mount Kenya, is the main access path and lies in a major rain shadow, resulting in drier conditions and minimal forest cover. Trekkers enjoy gentle slopes and the remarkable experience of moving east to west along the peaks, providing panoramic views that feel like crossing an entire mountain range. The lesser-known Burguret Route offers a more remote wilderness trek, with Mountain Rock providing guided experiences to Point Lenana, the popular hikers’ summit.

Flora and Fauna

Mount Kenya’s slopes are covered in a diverse mix of forest ecosystems. From bamboo and podo trees at lower altitudes to heathlands and alpine vegetation higher up, the mountain supports a variety of flora. Wildlife includes elephants, buffaloes, monkeys, and numerous bird species, making a Mount Kenya Adventure perfect for both trekking and wildlife observation.

Camping and Trekking Experience

Accommodation along the trek is in spacious mountain tents shared by two people, offering an authentic adventure without the need to participate in camp chores. The combination of highland forests, rocky ridges, and glacier-capped peaks creates a once-in-a-lifetime experience for nature enthusiasts, adventure travelers, and photographers alike.

This gradual ascent is perfect for acclimatisation as you head toward Marania Camp, situated at an altitude of 3700 meters.
Upon arrival at the camp, the team will set up your base for the night. You will enjoy a warm evening meal and your first overnight stay in tents, falling asleep under the vast, star-filled sky of the Mount Kenya wilderness.
