3 Days Gorilla Special in Uganda

Embark on a thrilling 3-day gorilla trekking safari in Uganda, exploring the stunning afromontane forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This short but immersive adventure offers once-in-a-lifetime encounters with endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Trek through dense rainforest guided by experienced Uganda Wildlife Authority trackers, observing gorilla families as they feed, play, and care for their young. Learn about gorilla behavior, conservation initiatives, and the fragile ecosystems that sustain these magnificent primates.

The journey begins with a scenic drive from Kampala or Entebbe through southwestern Uganda’s rolling hills, rural villages, and lush farmlands. Stop for lunch at the cultural landmark Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara before continuing toward Buhoma, where you will check in to your lodge and relax after the day’s travel.

Day two is dedicated to the highlight of the safari: gorilla tracking. After an early breakfast and a pre-trek briefing, set off into the rainforest for a trek that can last between three to nine hours depending on the gorilla family’s location. Once found, spend up to one hour observing these gentle giants up close, capturing incredible photographs and creating unforgettable memories. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

On day three, begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Pause for lunch in Mbarara and make a brief stop at the Equator crossing for photographs, souvenirs, and refreshments. Arrive in Kampala or Entebbe in time for hotel check-in or airport transfer for onward flights.

This 3-day gorilla trekking safari is ideal for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and adventure seekers looking for an unforgettable encounter with Africa’s mountain gorillas in one of the continent’s most remarkable national parks.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is dedicated to the highlight of your safari — mountain gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters by 7:45 am for registration and a comprehensive pre-trek briefing conducted by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. The briefing covers trekking guidelines, safety protocols, and gorilla interaction rules.

At 8:30 am, you will begin your guided trek into the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The duration of the trek varies significantly — it can take anywhere between 3 to 9 hours, depending on the location and movement of the gorillas on that day.

Once the gorillas are located, you will be allowed to spend a maximum of one hour observing them at close range. This is a rare and powerful wildlife encounter, offering opportunities to watch them feed, groom, interact, and care for their young in their natural habitat.

All visitors are expected to return to the starting point by 7:00 pm at the latest. Gorilla trekking involves navigating steep, muddy, and uneven terrain; therefore, a reasonable level of physical fitness is strongly recommended.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight, reflecting on one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife experiences.
