Discover Mount Kenya Adventures

Experience a 6 days Mt. Kenya Adventure, exploring Kenya’s highest mountain and the second-highest in Africa at 5,199 meters (17,057 feet). Located in central Kenya, Mount Kenya spans Meru, Embu, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Tharaka Nithi counties, just 150 km from Nairobi and 90 km from the Equator. Created by a volcano over three million years ago, the mountain features a stunning ice cap at its peak and diverse vegetation along its slopes, from dense montane forests to bamboo zones and alpine meadows.

Mountains, Forests, and Wildlife

During a Mount Kenya Adventure, trekkers can explore the lush lower slopes, home to unique flora and fauna. The varied ecosystems include bamboo forests, cedar groves, and heathlands, providing habitats for elephants, buffaloes, monkeys, and numerous bird species. Mount Kenya’s rich biodiversity also offers a chance to spot small mammals, colorful butterflies, and endemic plants that make the highlands a paradise for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Trekking Routes and Camping

The Burguret Route offers a less-traveled wilderness path, revived by Mountain Rock treks, taking adventurers to Point Lenana, the hikers’ summit. The descent follows the gradual Sirimon Route, passing through scenic ridges, waterfalls, and glacial valleys. Accommodation during the trek is in spacious mountain tents shared by two, allowing visitors to experience camping in the heart of pristine wilderness without worrying about camp chores.

Highlights of a Mount Kenya Adventure

Trekking Mount Kenya provides a combination of physical challenge, adventure, and breathtaking scenery. Visitors enjoy panoramic views of surrounding highlands, glacial peaks, and unique vegetation zones that change with altitude. Along the way, hikers may witness rare birds, endemic plants, and occasionally wildlife such as elephants or monkeys. A 6 days Mt. Kenya Adventure is perfect for hikers seeking high-altitude trekking, immersive nature experiences, and unforgettable mountain landscapes.

To acclimatise to the terrain and altitude we have a forest walk to the Mau Mau caves. Our naturalist guide will reveal the forest food recipes, herbal medicines and survival techniques of the Mau Mau freedom fighters. Alternatively you can choose other activity at the Lodge - horse riding, trout fishing, mountain biking and bird watching. After lunch, a culturally oriented walk through the local Kikuyu villages and farms
