Your safari adventure begins with an early morning departure from Kampala as you travel southwest across the scenic countryside toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive takes you through lush landscapes, rolling hills, and traditional rural communities, offering a wonderful introduction to Uganda’s diverse culture and natural beauty.
Along the journey, you will pass through Mbarara, a region well known for the iconic long-horned Ankole-Watusi cattle, one of Uganda’s most distinctive cultural symbols. You will also have the opportunity to stop at the Uganda Equator Crossing, where you can stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time, take photos, and browse local handicrafts at nearby roadside markets.
Continuing your journey, you descend into the spectacular landscapes surrounding Queen Elizabeth National Park. As you approach the park, keep an eye out for wildlife along the roadside plains.
Upon arrival, enjoy a short introductory game drive along the famous Channel Track near the Kazinga Channel, where sightings of animals such as elephants, buffaloes, and various antelope species are common. This first game drive offers an exciting welcome to one of Uganda’s most popular wildlife destinations.
After the drive, proceed to your lodge or safari camp for dinner and overnight stay, preparing for more wildlife encounters in the days ahead.
